With the beauty industry producing globally 120 billion units of non-recyclable packaging every year, wouldn’t it be great if we could all make a difference – even just a small one. The problem for many of us is working out just what can and can’t be recycled. Many councils are unable to recycle beauty packaging because it often contains mixed materials and elements that cause contamination. Don’t worry though because we can now help and save you a few pennies along the way.
Get money off when you recycle your old Environ packaging
The UK distributors of Environ – iiaa – have announced their Environ Recycling Scheme which aims to reduce the number of Environ containers that end up in landfill. They will be collecting containers from all their stockists and sending them to a specialist firm to re-purpose the plastic into secondary products. For each environ container we send, they will credit us with £1.
As a team we thought about what we should do with this cash and we have decided that when a customer brings back their empties we will give them 50p per container off on any Environ purchase. The remaining 50p will be donated to a local environmental charity.
The Heart of England Forest
With so many great causes to choose from, it’s taken us a while to decide where the remaining money should go, but planting trees in the local area certainly ticked a few boxes in terms of preserving local wildlife habitat and creating a national asset – a lung for the Midlands. What about packaging from other brands?
The Advanced Nutrition programme is already on a programme to Clean Label status and is committed to sustainability. The pots are made from cardboard from FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) approved mills which means it’s sourced from sustainable forests. They are recyclable and printed with eco-friendly vegetable ink.
With regard to other brands, we can accept your empty containers and send then off to iiaa to be recycled, but unfortunately won’t receive any money back for those.
